Born and raised in Rohini, Delhi, Tancy’s early years were filled with financial challenges that required her to step into adulthood much sooner than expected. Coming from a family that initially lacked emotional and financial support, she balanced her education and work responsibilities at a very young age. Despite the odds, her determination never wavered.

At the age of 16, she landed her first professional opportunity—as a background dancer in a music album. That moment was pivotal, igniting her drive to pursue a career in dance professionally. She completed her schooling from Yuvashakti Model School, Rohini Sector 3, and while her dream was to attend a regular college, circumstances led her to complete her degree through distance learning from Delhi University. Every step she took was a testament to her belief that passion, not privilege, defines potential.

An Incident That Sparked a Movement

Tancy’s journey as a menstrual health advocate began with a deeply personal and disturbing experience. At the age of 14, while visiting Uttar Pradesh, she attempted to purchase sanitary napkins. After being turned away by several shops, she finally found one willing to sell her a packet—only to be met with the question, “Bachha kiske ghar hua hai?” (“Whose baby has been born?”), implying that pads were only meant for postnatal use.

This shocking encounter left a lasting impact on her. She realized how little awareness and how much stigma surrounded menstruation, especially in rural India. She also reflected on her own early experiences—being forced to use cloth during her first periods due to lack of access and awareness. That incident wasn’t just a wake-up call; it became the cornerstone of her mission: to fight period poverty and eliminate menstrual stigma.

Pads for Freedom

To bring her mission to life, Tancy partnered with Khushi NGO and became an active force behind the campaign “Pads for Freedom.” Through this initiative, she has been working tirelessly to distribute sanitary pads to underserved communities and initiate open conversations around menstrual hygiene.

The campaign focuses on empowering girls with knowledge, ensuring they don’t have to drop out of school because of their periods. For Tancy, this is more than a cause—it’s a commitment to restoring dignity and rights to every menstruating individual.

Challenges That Shaped Her Vision

Tancy’s path hasn’t been free of hurdles. One of the biggest challenges she faced was breaking away from the societal norms that often confine women to predefined roles. Choosing to follow her passion in dance, advocating for social change, and speaking openly about periods demanded courage and conviction in a world that often tries to silence such voices.

She also navigated the early stages of her journey without access to mentorship or resources. With limited financial backing and a lack of institutional support, she turned to self-learning, building her skills and network brick by brick. Along the way, she battled self-doubt and isolation, but each challenge only strengthened her resolve to push boundaries and uplift others.

A Vision for Inclusive and Empathetic Change

Tancy’s mission is rooted in more than just individual empowerment. She envisions a world where opportunities are not dictated by background, gender, or circumstance. She is striving for a systemic shift—where every girl, regardless of her socio-economic status, has the right to safe, hygienic, and dignified menstrual care.

Her vision extends to creating spaces of inclusion, awareness, and empathy. She strongly believes that real transformation happens when people lead with compassion—spreading not just information, but understanding and love. For her, activism isn’t just about speaking out; it’s about inspiring collective action that touches lives meaningfully.

Future Goals

Tancy is not chasing superficial success—she is committed to creating a legacy of significance.

On a personal level, she aspires to live a life centered around growth, balance, and purpose. She values authentic connections and aims to continue nurturing her personal well-being alongside her mission.

Professionally, she seeks to expand her impact through mentorship, entrepreneurship, and advocacy. Whether by supporting young women, launching impactful campaigns, or becoming a global voice for menstrual equity, Tancy is determined to empower the next generation of changemakers.

To Tancy Renu Pal, platforms like Miss Grand India are more than beauty pageants—they’re powerful vehicles for change. Her presence is not just about winning a title; it’s about amplifying a cause that affects millions.

She stands as a reminder that the color red is not a mark of shame—but a badge of strength, womanhood, and pride. Through her voice, her actions, and her relentless spirit, Tancy is proving that even one person can spark a movement that transforms silence into empowerment.
