I’m Alla Petukhova, and food has been the heartbeat of my journey—a journey that began in Russia, unfolded across Europe, and found its soul in India. I believe food is more than nourishment; it’s a universal language that bridges cultures, connects people, and transforms lives. In a fast-paced world, I wanted to reclaim the joy of slowing down—crafting food with our hands and savoring the stories behind every bite.
At its core lies fermentation—a timeless art that’s more than preservation. It’s culinary alchemy, where science meets creativity to unlock bold flavors, boost nutrition, and address modern health issues like allergies and digestion. Fermentation turns the ordinary into the extraordinary.
The story behind Alla’s Posh Flavors
My culinary adventure took off at the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland, where I earned a Master’s in International Hospitality Management. Specialized courses in cheesemaking and wine sommelier deepened my expertise. These experiences reshaped my perspective—food was no longer just sustenance; it became a canvas for creativity, a bridge between cultures, and a language of connection.
Yet, my true inspiration lies in the memories of my Russian childhood, where food was a ritual of love and tradition. Every year, my family gathered to ferment sauerkraut, cucumbers, tomatoes, and watermelons in large ceramic crocks. Homemade kefir, sour cream, and tvorog were staples. “The past is the foundation of the future,” we’d say—a mantra that taught me to cherish heritage and the beauty of slowing down.
Years later, during my MBA in Berlin, I met my partner Prakhar – an entrepreneur, who shared my passion for food. Together, we embarked on a culinary adventure across Europe, exploring bustling farmers’ markets, cozy bakeries, and organic farms. We spent hours fermenting pickles, crafting probiotic yogurts, and aging artisanal cheeses. Each new creation made us realize something profound:
