Hyderabad, Telangana: TiE Women 2021-a global initiative of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) aims at embracing, engaging and empowering women entrepreneurs across the globe-irrespective of the size of the enterprises, origin, standing or background kicked off virtually on Thursday on Zoom Platform.
The much talked about initiative of TiE Women 2021 was formally launched in March by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Government of India, G. Kishan Reddy at a function in Hyderabad.
It could not be rolled out immediately after its launch due to the prevailing precarious situation. Now as situation is improving, TiE Hyderabad has rolled out this year edition virtually on June 24. Over 100 plus women entrepreneurs from across Telugu States participated in the virtual program.
According to Ms. Rashida Adenwala, Chapter Lead for the TiE Women Hyderabad the initiative is being launched to showcase Women Entrepreneurs from the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to a stellar global team and build a climate of inclusiveness that will propel the unique TiE Women brand of “bold and impactful” around the world. This is the only program serving as an opportunity for Women Entrepreneur to represent the states compete at Global Scale. Rashida Adenwala, took the members through a glance of the TiE Women 2020 program conducted virtually. She then outlined the 2021 program highlights in phase -1 which includes Regional Pitch Competition 2021 for Women Entrepreneurs. Each chapter selects one winner that goes to the global finale and three runners-up are entitled to a bootcamp in India. The Pitch Competition was created to provide opportunities & access to Investors & VCs, she shared.
Kanika Radhakrishnan, Program Director – TiE Women Global briefed the participants about phase -2 of the program. She informed the audience that 1 winner and 3 runner-ups from the chapter level competition would be moved to Phase -2 of the program. TiE Global Pitch Competition 2021 for Women Entrepreneurs is a Competition that brings together winners from each of the TiE Chapters from around the world to a central location. Global Pitch Competition 2021 for Women Entrepreneurs, is the flagship program of TiE Women.
The Pitch Competition runs in two phases. Phase one, the local chapter level which goes up to August 31st. Phase two, the global level programs run through September. The Global Finals is scheduled to be held in October 2021.
This, says Mr. Manohar Reddy, Chairman, TiE Hyderabad is a sector-agnostic program, focused on women entrepreneurs, irrespective of the size of their enterprises, origin, standing or background. This program entails series of Entrepreneurial development sessions comprising of varied topics such as design thinking, pitch deck preparation, the process and various nuances of raising funds, digital marketing, revenue and scale, go to market strategy and many more. This will eventually lead the participants pitching their product and or services as the Regional Mock Pitching Competition. The first winner of this completion shall get the opportunity to represent the State at the Global Competition to be held in person in Dubai during GITEX which is likely to be held in October 2021. She will be entitled to a fully-paid accommodation in Dubai & a chance to win equity free cash prize money 3 Runners up from Regional Competition would get an opportunity to attend boot camp in India, all expenses paid.
Dr. Nandita Sethi, Founder – The Entrepreneur zone, said that “there is a certain madness around a start-up but there is also a certain method around the madness” while speaking on the topic ‘Success factors for start-up’. She further called the aspiring participants to enrol in the program to reap maximum results in their start-up journeys.
The TiE Women Global competition was launched in 2020. At the Chapter level, TiE Hyderabad impacted 76+ Women Entrepreneurs under this Program. This year too we already have 40+ Women Led Entrepreneurs registered for the Program and we hope to have many more registrations, as the last date for applying is 30th June 2021, it is stated.
This year the TiE Hyderabad Chapter is offering to the women led / co-led startups who are willing to join the programme, Associate Membership of TiE Hyderabad at a discounted fee. The membership will entail them to an Entrepreneur Development Program, networking, pitching and mentoring opportunities throughout the year.
The applications are open on the TiE Hyderabad website https://hyderabad.tie.org/tiewomen-2/ to apply for the competition, the last date being June 30, 2021. Shortlisted Applicants will undergo orientation, mock pitching & all validation required for this Competition.
