Delhi, [India], November 26, 2024: With the hospitality industry heavily dominated by male entrepreneurs, Kanchan Tyagi turned out to be an exceptional, breaking glass ceilings. While boardrooms and property dealings in this sector often echo with male voices, she’s organising a quiet revolution through Hide-In India, proving that innovation in hospitality isn’t about gender—it’s about vision, determination, and understanding what travellers truly seek.

Kanchan’s journey began in a small town during the 1990s, where girls’ education was often an afterthought. “I was the only girl in my class, without a single female teacher in sight,” she recalls. But with her father’s constant support, she defied societal norms, eventually becoming a Chartered Accountant in 2015.

After two years in tax consulting, Kanchan felt the entrepreneurial spark ignite. In 2018, she took a leap of faith, launching Hide-In India with just one floor and a terrace. Today, the venture has blossomed into Hide-In India, a growing chain of accommodations carefully chosen for their prime locations and authentic experiences.

Beyond the brand’s thoughtfully curated properties, Hide-In India stands out with the vision behind them. “We’re not just offering a place to stay,” Kanchan explains. “We’re creating immersive cultural experiences.” From complimentary yoga classes and kitchen workshops to heritage walks and city tours, every aspect is designed to connect guests with India’s rich cultural tapestry.

The journey hasn’t been without its challenges. As a woman entrepreneur in the male-dominated hospitality sector, Kanchan has faced her share of scepticism. “In Rajasthan, brokers would refuse to speak with me, insisting on dealing with a man instead,” she shares. Yet, these obstacles only strengthened her resolve to succeed and pave the way for other women in the industry.

Today, Hide-In India represents more than just business success—it’s a powerful statement about breaking gender barriers. Run by a mother-daughter duo, the company is redefining leadership in the hospitality sector while staying true to its core mission of providing authentic, culturally rich experiences.

As Hide-In India approaches its seventh anniversary, Kanchan’s story serves as an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs, especially women, proving that with passion, resilience, and a clear vision, it’s possible to transform challenges into stepping stones for success.
